what to expect in a yoga session

  • sessions are generally with individuals (or small groups by request only)

your first session

  • we discuss what your needs are and what you hope to develop through your yoga practice
  • we establish factors which influence your practice such as time available, time of day, space available, fit with other activities
  • we assess, if appropriate, body structure and function, to identify any areas of weakness or imbalance to develop
    • remember that a yoga practice need not be just physical asana practice but could be more focussed on breathing, mind or attitude.
  • we go through some fundamental ideas to inform your practice, which may be practical or theoretical according to your need
  • then we create a practice for you to take away and ensure you can begin practising it. Usually this will be quite simple initially so that you can become familiar with the way of working but will progress as rapidly as you do
  • you will receive your personal practice and guidelines to take away or shortly afterwards by email and arrange to meet again usually in 1-3 weeks to review progress and to refine the practice
  • the first session should ideally be 60-90 minutes

follow-up sessions

  • further sessions will review progress since previous visit, teach specific points to aide practice and refine the sequence or approach based on needs
  • follow-up sessions can be as little as 30mins but more usually 45 or 60 mins. For particular purposes these could be longer
